February 22nd, 2022 - Lent is coming in two weeks with ASH WEDNESDAY on March 2nd. Lent is a gift from God to us of renewal in body and soul through the Church's time-tested measures of additional prayer, fasting and abstinence, and additional works of charity. At our parish, we invite you, your families, and all people of good will to our events as follows (and stay tuned to our web page, bulletin, and announcements for more information):
N.B. As of Thursday, March 3rd, the daily Mass at 8 a.m. shall henceforth be offered at PRESENTATION Church instead of at Sacred Heart Church.
ASH WEDNESDAY, March 2nd. Ashes shall be imposed ONLY at the Masses and liturgies of the day.
8 a.m. Mass in the Ordinary Form (Sacred Heart)
11 a.m. Mass in the Extraordinary Form (Sacred Heart)
6:30 p.m. Mass in the Ordinary Form (Presentation)
For the Religious Education Program ONLY, a Liturgy of the Word with imposition of ashes will be scheduled as well. Our Coordinator will notify parents and staff as to the time and place.
For all Catholics from age 14 onward, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent are days of ABSTINENCE from ALL meats and meat products. Meats = beef, poultry, lamb, pork, veal, wild game. Fish and seafood do not count as meats.
Meat products = soups, broths, gravies, and sauces made from meat or with meat. No pepperoni on the pizza! No bacon bits in the salad! No ground beef in the marinara sauce!
For all Catholics from ages 18 to 59 inclusive,Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of FAST. Fast = Eating up to one full meal and up to TWO "collations" (snacks) with NO solid food between the meal and the collations. Medicine may be taken, of course, at any time. Liquids may be taken between the meal and the collations.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS on Fridays of Lent, starting on March 4th. Presentation Church: After the 8 a.m. Mass.
Sacred Heart Church: 6:30 p.m.
HOLY HOURS (Solemn Exposition, Adoration, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament)
Presentation Church: Saturday, March 5th and April 2nd after the 8 a.m. Mass.
NEW at SACRED HEART CHURCH:Saturday, April 2nd, 3:15-4:15 p.m.(trial run, subsequent date to be determined on a monthly basis)
ADDITIONAL MASSES IN THE EXTRAORDINARY FORMat Sacred Heart Church: March 17 (St. Patrick's Day, patronal feast day of the Archdiocese), 11 a.m.
March 25 (Feast of the Annunciation, solemnity), 11 a.m.
LENTEN RECONCILIATION MONDAY, April 11th.: 2-4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 6-8 p.m. at Presentation Church.

For Religious Education students and their parents, we have a special Family Catechesis Evening of Confession scheduled for you. You will be further informed by the Program as to the date, time, and place.
EVENING or NIGHT OF RECOLLECTION: Tuesday, March 29th at 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Conference + Holy Hour with confessins available. Free of charge. Donations are welcome.
