We salute our parishioners CHRISTOPHER and CAROLYN DI IORIO and their family for witnessing to a truly
Christian sense of time. The
violet and white bespeak the Advent season still in our midst,
there is no "holiday season" for them! This stalwart couple will decorate their home for Christmas in a few days with colors appropriate for the Christmas season, which
begins on Christmas Eve and concludes at least on Sunday of the Baptism of the Lord or January 9, 2022. Some, however, may argue for the venerable observance once seen in England and still practiced by Mexicans and other Catholics of certain spiritualities and cultures until
February 2nd, once known as
Candlemas and known more often as the
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord Jesus (in the Temple of Jerusalem).
BLESSED ADVENT TO YOU ALL! We look forward to seeing you at
Confessiontonight (December 20) at Presentation Church from 6 to 8 p.m. and
at Mass on Christmas Eve (5 p.m. Sacred Heart, 8 p.m. Presentation),
Christmas Day (9 a.m., Sacred Heart, 11 a.m., at Presentation, also 11 a.m.
Extraordinary Form at Sacred Heart),
and Sunday of the Holy Family on Dec. 26 (9:30 a.m. Confessions and 10 a.m. Mass at Presentation, 10:15 a.m. Confessions and 11 a.m.
Extraordinary Form at Sacred Heart).
Remember that while Christmas is a Holy Day of Obligation, attendance of Holy Mass on Dec. 24 or 25 does not meet our Third Commandment duty for Sunday, December 26. Let's also go to Mass on Sunday, December 26.
